In the inner-city area of Oberhausen, the route will be widened during closure periods with approx. 100,000 m³ of earthworks, 5,000 m of track an 8 switches, as well as 2,500 m of bored piles and 7,000 m of vibrated stone columns. In addition to the associated civil engineering, waste diposal, drainage and underground cable works, construction work ist being carried out on 9 engineering structures and catenary work on 3,000 m of track with 140 new masts.
